Two sets of images are shown. The first is taken from work examining young motocross riders and the dangers involved in the sport. The second from a work titled 'Punk to Parent'. Here Martin was looking for clues into the cultural past of parents now they are older.

The menu on the left gives access to photographs in his portfolio and also examples from his web portfolio.

About

Martin's interest in photography started with a very heavy Russian Zenith SLR with all the lenses and attachments. Poor metering mean't bad exposures, but the amount of kit allowed plenty of experimentation.

His interest was fueled in his twenties and early thirties by travels to first Europe, then India, Africa and the USA where he largely photographed 'the other' but an interest in travel documentary was forming.

In his mid thirties he enrolled on a photography degree at Bradford Art College in Yorkshire where he was exposed to a much broader view of photography through the enthusiasm and wider knowledge of tutors and fellow students.

The interests of this group were very diverse, but throughout the course documentary photography figured very strongly and it was this area that Martin found of most interest. Although sadly in decline, it covered his interests in portraiture, travel documentary, and also urban landscape.

Further travel during his BA to Western Australia allowed him to practice what he was learning in the UK in an alien environment and this opportunity influenced the course of his final BA project photographing while walking the streets of his native Bradford.

He has contributed to group exhibitions, had work in Galleries, and been featured in national magazines and local press.

On leaving college his interest in web came to the fore and he took a post with a design studio building websites using his programming skills - the design part of the BA helping him work in this arts environment.

Photographically he is now interested in reportage, documentary portraiture, travel, urban and rural landscape. He continues to practise photography, much of his recent work being focused on Yorkshire rather than further afield.
